What? Isn't it normal to blog about Christmas in April? I really just want to do this so that I don't forget our first Christmas together and the fun details. Mike and I decided to split Christmas with both of our families. Spend Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day with his family. As Christmas was getting close, I was getting anxious to have Mike open his gifts. And UPS freaking ruined Mike's surprise present (don't get me started about how every surprise for Mike ends up getting ruined). So we decided to open our presents to each other a little early. Okay, I really should say I finally convinced Mike to let us open them early. I really was begging like a little child. I was so excited to give Mike his presents! I gave Mike his own popcorn maker. Mike absolutely LOVES popcorn and I was so excited to give him this present. I am happy to report he loved it and we use it quite often. In his stocking I did a bunch of little things (i.e. tie, razor refills, candy, etc.). Mike gave me a heated blanket, perfume, the LOGO quiz game (a board game of my favorite app!) and a few other fun gadgets. It was fun to have our own little Christmas morning (even though it was actually 10 PM at night...)!
Christmas Eve we headed up to Fruit Heights for the Annual Child Family Christmas party. All of my dad's side of the family gets together and does dinner, a gift exchange, as well as a short Christmas program. It was a lot of fun! After the party, we opened gifts with my immediate family. My parents gave Mike a drill (I was secretly so excited for this gift) and they got me a desk for our bedroom. The desk didn't arrive until after Christmas but it was really nice to have the drill on hand to set it up! I'm slowly turning Mike into a handy man ;).
We headed down to Springville on Christmas Eve night and slept at Mike's mom's house. We were originally going to stay at my parents but decided last minute to go down there. Mike's family has a tradition of Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve. Except, they are actually really nice pajamas, she got mine from Victoria's Secret and they are adorable. Anywho, we woke up on Christmas morning to a huge mound of presents next to the tree. Mike's mom goes ALL out for Christmas. She got us both iPad's, as well as some new clothes, perfume, and a bunch of other really awesome stuff. They don't joke around in that household when it comes to Christmas. We also got to Skype with Mike's brother, Sean, who just recently got to Brazil!
This was the first Christmas I had spent away from my family, but Mike's family was so welcoming and made me feel at home. Here's to many more Christmas's with Mike!!

Husband's Birthday!
Mike's birthday was March 24 and I'm positive I was way more excited than him. I had finally kept his presents a secret and I couldn't wait to give them to him.
Birthday festivities started Friday night with the two of us going out to dinner at Olive Garden. We wanted to go somewhere with a coupon and finally decided with OG. And then we forgot to give them the coupon until after we paid. Go figure.
Saturday we went out to dinner with my family at Bombay House in SLC. It was fun getting together with my family and Mike was really excited about his new volleyball from my parents :).
Then on his actual birthday I woke up early and made him some crepes to have breakfast in bed. I think he liked it and felt really special. He said, "I've never had breakfast in bed before!!". Since it was Sunday, we went to church and Mike taught Elder's Quorum. After we got home it was finally time for him to open his presents! (I even told him he could open one the night before but he didn't want to. Crazy boi.). I got him some new clothes, a couple fun little things, and new speakers for our TV. But the best gift was saved for his mom's house.
We enjoyed our lazy Sunday and just cuddled and watched movies all day. For dinner we went over to Mike's mom's and Mike opened his new iPhone 5!!!! I was so excited and grabbed my camera so I could video his reaction. Well, if anyone knows Mike, his emotion levels doesn't range very much. He was excited, but he wasn't screaming up and down like I probably would. I was a little sad but had to remind myself he isn't loud and obnoxious like I am and he really did like the present. Haha I also gave him a few new accessories for his glorious new phone :)
That wasn't enough celebrating though and on Monday night, we headed over to PF Changs with Mike's fam to celebrate all the March birthdays!
I loved being able to spoil the birthday boy and spend all weekend celebrating his birth. I love that man more than anything! Each day I am reminded why he is so good for me and I can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays in the future!

Valentine's Day
Our first Valentine's Day was a success! It was so fun spending it with Mike. We started out the morning with breakfast together. (Side note, I was grating cheese for the eggs and grated my finger. Awesome.) Before Mike woke up I decorated the mirror with little heart sticky notes with reasons why I love Mike.
Then it was off to school and work for the both of us. I got off work at 6 PM and came home to a sparkling clean apartment, roses on the table and Mike making us dinner. He made grilled cheese (because that was the first meal we ever had together) and Pasta Roni (because we freaking lived off of that while we were dating). Along with cooking the meal he was dressed in his wedding suit. So handsome :)
We then exchanged gifts. I got him the magic bullet and an ipad case and he got me a storage cabinet to go above the toilet. Believe it or not, I have been wanting one of these forever and kept on coveting them whenever we would go shopping. The man knows the way to my heart ;)
After dinner we headed over to our FAVORITE dessert place, the WaffleLove Truck. It's a truck that travels around Utah County with these amazing waffles. If you are ever in town, go try them! They are amazing.
Had to document our newly finished bedroom. Mike is becoming professional at making our bed, who knew he could be so good??
All in all, it was a great Valentine's day. I'm so glad I get to be with Mike forever. He is so good to me and I love being with him.

Simple Life
On my drive home from work today I was thinking about my {our} life right now. I have a good job that I am so grateful for, Mike is in school and is enjoying it, we live in a great apartment, and we get to spend quite a bit of time together. I don't think our life will be this simple for very long but I am loving it right now. Currently, Mike and I get to have lunch together. It's sooooo nice! Today on our lunch breaks we sat on the couch laughing our butts off at the latest Modern Family episode. I loved it.
Whenever I think about writing a post on this blog (or my old one), I always over analyze what to write about. I hate those types of blogs that are a 'woe is me' type or those that portray an unrealistic life. I don't want this blog to become a cheesy/my life is so easy/my husband brings me flowers every day but rather a form of documenting our lives and trying to focus on the positive. (How's that for a run-on sentence?). So bear with me as I do my best at keeping up with this little blog of ours.
Until next time, you can look at a few pictures from our honeymooooon.
